The template also pastes a dashed note above the section, with the short version of this page. It only shows inside the builder, never on the published page — see Builder notes.

How to adjust

Every step is the same move: pick the element in the Structure panel, change its Properties.

Where are those panels?

How to adjust a template shows every one of them in a screenshot of the real builder: the Structure and Properties panels, the classes on an element, a component's style families and the field where a CSS variable goes.

The classes this element carries, in the Bricks panel.

  1. Paste the template in Bricks first — see Copy and paste.
  2. Select Intro (FBK Intro) › Properties: Eyebrow, Hide eyebrow, Title, Title level, Lead, Hide lead · Style group: Eyebrow style, Highlight, Title size, Accent line · Layout group: Alignment, Layout, Background, Spacing · Motion group: Reveal in slider.
  3. Select Group A, Group B, Group C (+2 more) (FBK Glossary group) › Properties: Letter.
  4. Spacing, sizes, color and timing with no property of their own: the CSS variables below.

CSS variables

These are the only values in the template meant to be changed by hand. Copy the block, paste it, edit the numbers.

/* «Glossary» · class .fbk-wf-glossary */
.fbk-wf-glossary {
/* Space kept above the letter bar while it stays in view, and above a letter
when you jump to it */
--fbk-t-offset: calc(var(--wp-admin--admin-bar--height, 0em) + var(--space-s));
/* Lines between the letter groups */
--fbk-t-line: color-mix(in srgb, currentColor 16%, transparent);
/* Letter bar background (the section's, so the terms don't show through it) */
--fbk-t-bar-bg: var(--fbk-bg, var(--white));
}

Paste the block in the element's Style → CSS field (the selector is already in it), or set the same variables on the class itself to change every copy at once. The values are your framework's variables, so they follow your site: Choosing a framework.

Finish by hand

  • A new layout with no FB 1.0 or 2.0 original. Each letter with terms is an FBK Glossary group (a reusable component, <select the group in the builder to see its Letter property>): the big letter and a Terms slot with a description list (dl) of terms (dt) and definitions (dd). Duplicate a dt and its dd inside the slot to add a term.
  • A group with nothing in its Terms slot hides itself (CSS, no JS): never an empty letter section. To add a brand-new letter, duplicate a group component, give the copy its own anchor id (its CSS ID in the Style panel, glossary-k…) and letter, then in the letter bar swap that letter's span (no terms, dimmed) for a copy of a letter link pointing to #glossary-k. The bar stays at the top while the terms scroll past (sticky, --fbk-t-offset on .fbk-wf-glossary); on tablets and phones it scrolls away with the page.
  • Each letter in the bar is a box of the style families (fbk-ui Outline · Neutral, S): it fills on hover and keyboard focus. The letter you jumped to keeps the active look through :target (class .fbk-wf-glossary--target; add one line per new letter there). A bar letter also dims and stops reacting on its own (class .fbk-wf-glossary--autodim, already covers all 26 letters) if its group disappears or its Terms slot is ever emptied — no edit needed there. Letters with no group at all start as a dimmed span (aria-disabled, the house disabled opacity --fbk-disabled).
  • The terms here are written in: to drive them from a real list of terms, grouped automatically by their initial letter, swap each letter's Terms slot for a Bricks Query Loop over your own content.

On phones

The template is designed desktop first, the Bricks default, and only changes at the two widths the library uses:

  • 991px and below — .fbk-wf-glossary__bar, .fbk-intro.
  • 767px and below — .fbk-glos-group, .fbk-section.

Those changes live in Bricks' own breakpoint fields, so you edit them where you always do: pick the breakpoint in the toolbar and the same fields follow.

Careful with the classes shared by the whole library (fbk-section, fbk-intro, the component classes): a change there shows up in every template that uses them.

If your site's breakpoints are set up mobile first, copy the mobile-first variant of the template instead — see Copy and paste.

Accessibility

In this template, keyboard focus is visible on every interactive piece; movement is cut back when the visitor's system asks for less motion; the state screen readers need is already set (aria-disabled, aria-label).

What is checked on every template, and what depends on your own palette: Accessibility.

Dark mode

With your site in dark mode this section turns dark too — the class fbk-section--auto-dark on the section does it. Remove the class to keep it light.

Its background is a modifier on the section, so you can swap it for any of the ones the template is checked with: fbk-section--light, fbk-section--soft, fbk-section--dark.
